85 years have passed since the death of poet and thinker Mehmet Akif Ersoy, the author of the National Anthem, the symbol of the Turkish nation's struggle for independence. Mehmet Akif Ersoy, who played an important role in the Turkish nation's war of independence, is commemorated with various events during the "Mehmet Akif Ersoy Memorial Week" between 20-27 December. In this context, many units of the university commemorated the Independence Poet with various events throughout the week. The programs started with a moment of silence and the singing of Turkish National Anthem.


Prof. Dr. Ahmet Doğan, a faculty member of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of KAEU, made presentations on the life of the Independence Poet, Mehmet Akif Ersoy, within the scope of the events. In his presentation, Doğan expressed the epicness of the National Struggle in Mehmet Akif Ersoy's works with the verses of Akif. Giving important information about the turning points in the life of Mehmet Akif Ersoy, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Doğan, in the continuation of his speech, informed the audience by drawing attention to the intensity of meaning of Turkish National Anthem.


At the same time, KAEU Neşet Ertaş Fine Arts Faculty held a poetry recitation with poems composed by Mehmet Akif Ersoy at the Ahi Evran Congress and Culture Center Neşet Ertaş Hall.
