With the cooperation of the Ministry of National Education, 18 Vocational Justice Training Centers, which were established in penal institutions under the General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Houses of the Ministry of Justice, were opened with a ceremony. On December 28, 2021, the collective opening ceremony of the Foça Open Penitentiary Institution, that the Minister of Justice Abdulhamit Gül and the Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer opened the centers across the country, was held online. The Rector of KAEU, Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya, also attended the ceremony that the Kırşehir Ahi Evran Vocational Training Center for Justice, which is within the body of Kırşehir Open Prison, was opened.
Within the scope of the protocol, it is aimed to organize education, training, courses and social activities, general, vocational and technical courses for detainees, convicts, obliged and ex-convicts, and to evaluate and document the past learning of the trainees in a certain professional field within this scope. In addition, it is aimed to ensure that convicts and detainees who attend these courses are registered at vocational training centers and have a journeyman, mastership, master trainer certificate and diploma.
Rector Karakaya stated that the Justice Vocational Training Centers, which were opened for education, are very important for the detainees and convicts to receive education and training, socialize and gain professional skills, and he emphasized that one of the goals of the centers is to accelerate the contribution of individuals to the society after the execution of sentences. Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya stated that trainings will be given to trainees in the fields of Furniture, Metal Technologies, Agriculture, Animal Breeding and Health, Food and Beverage and Machinery Technologies at Kırşehir Ahi Evran Adalet Vocational Training Center and wished the center to be beneficial for our country and our province.
