Kayseri University Opening Class of the 2021-2022 Academic Year was organized. Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç, Deputy Governor Şemseddin Erkaya, Rector of Kırşehir Ahi Evran University Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya, Rector of Kayseri University Prof. Dr. Kurtuluş Karamustafa and Rector of Nuh Naci Yazgan University Prof. Dr. Kerim Güney, academicians and students attended the event held at Kayseri University Congress and Culture Center on October 13, 2021.

Kayseri University Rector Prof. Dr. Kurtuluş Karamustafa who made the opening speech, noted that they are very happy to be together with the students in the halls at such events due to the resumption of face-to-face education, and thanked everyone who participated in the event.

Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç, on the other hand, reminded in his speech that Kayseri, which has a historical past dating back to approximately 6000 years, is known as Makarr-ı Ulema and Makarr-ı Evliya, that is, the city of scholars and the city of saints, and gave information about the physical development of Kayseri University from past to present.

Rector Karakaya: "Ahi Evran-ı Veli An Important Philosopher, An Intellectual and A True Believer"

After the opening speeches, Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya lectured on Ahi Evran, the founder of the Ahi organization in Anatolia, at the opening lecture on "Understanding Today with Ahi Values". Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya started his speech by stating that they will talk about Ahi Evran-ı Veli, who embodied the history of Islamic Civilization in his personality and transferred the knowledge from strong sources to practical life. Rector Karakaya, who stated that the lands where Ahi Evran-ı Veli was born are very close to the current eastern borders of Turkey in terms of geography, underlined that the Ahi community is a great infrastructure in keeping Anatolia a homeland and instilling peace in the society.

Rector Karakaya continued his speech, which was listened with interest by students and guests, and said, “Ahi Evran is a well-educated scholar who took lessons from the famous scholars of the time. Ahi Evran-ı Veli, apart from being the founder of the Ahi organization, is an important philosopher, intellectual and true believer of his time.” Rector Karakaya, who stated that Ahi-Order is the name of a system, order, and discipline, said that the teaching of Ahi-Order describes being a good tradesman and a good person. Karakaya concluded his speech by reminding that Akhism is the reflection of honesty, love, friendship, cooperation, tolerance, knowledge and solidarity in life.

Ahi of the Year 2021 of Kayseri, Businessman and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Nuh Naci Yazgan University, Mustafa Nevzat Özhamurkar, also gave information about the beginning of higher education in Kayseri and what was done for higher education in Kayseri at that time in the opening lecture on "The Living Ahi".

After the opening lecture, Rector of Kayseri University Prof. Dr. Kurtuluş Karamustafa thanked the Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya, for his opening lecture on "Understanding Today with Ahi-Order Values" and presented a plaque.
