In our city, which is the first and only city from Turkey included in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in music, Kırşehir National Music Workshop has started in cooperation with KAEU Neşet Ertaş Fine Arts Faculty (NEFFA) and Municipality of Kırşehir. Kırşehir Governor İbrahim Akın, Kırşehir Mayor Selahattin Ekicioğlu, Vice-Rector of our university Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt, Dean of NEFFA Prof. Dr. Filiz Nurhan Ölmez, President of UNESCO Turkey National Commission Prof. Dr. M. Öcal Oğuz, Rector of Ankara Fine Arts University Prof. Dr. Erol Parlak and guests attended the workshop.



The opening speech of the workshop was delivered by NEFFA Dean Prof. Dr. Filiz Nurhan Ölmez. After Dean Ölmez, Vice-Rector of our University Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt made a speech and gave information about the work to be done for the development and survival of Abdal culture. Expressing that Kırşehir is the first and only city from Turkey included in the Creative Cities of Music, Deputy Rector Kurt underlined that the city supports the cultural diversity ideals of UNESCO. Reminding that Kırşehir has a very rich and deep-rooted structure in terms of music culture, Kurt said that Kırşehir is the keystone of Turkish music in terms of folk music and bozlaks. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt emphasized that Kırşehir represents our country nationally and internationally by raising many poets and musicians, especially Neşet Ertaş, Muharrem Ertaş, Çekiç Ali, the pioneers of the Abdal music tradition. He wishes the events would be successful.

In the workshop, Abdal music masters in the city sang Neşet Ertaş's popular bozlak and folk songs after the speakers. The workshop will continue with workshops, sessions, and concerts.
